Complete Hanuman Chalisa in Hindi and English

Introduction to the Hanuman Chalisa

The complete Hanuman Chalisa in Hindi and English, a devotional hymn to the Yogic deity Hanuman, is one of the most famous prayers in India. It is from perhaps the greatest literary work of India: the Ramcharitramanas by Tulsidas.

Inspiration and Origin

Tulsidas, a great devotee of Bhagwan Ram ji, was inspired to write the Hanuman Chalisa in the 16th century. It is said that he wrote the Chalisa on the banks of the river Ganges in the city of Varanasi, after being visited by Bhagwan Hanuman in a dream. Tulsidas was amazed by the power and devotion of Hanuman and thus wrote the Hanuman Chalisa in praise of him.
